MBA in Human Resource Management: What is it About?

Human Resource Management is essentially the process of hiring, training and managing employees for an organization. It is all related to the ‘people’ side of an organization. It is about making sure that an organization has the adequate number of people with the required skills and knowledge to fulfill the strategic aims of a company.

MBA in HRM is of 2 years and is divided in terms/semesters. Some institutes have two semesters in one annum while many have three semesters or terms. For distance mode of education, the minimum duration of course is 2-2.5 years and maximum duration to complete the program is 4 years. For Executive Program, the duration of the course varies from 1 to 2 years.

How to Get Admission in Master of Business Administration [MBA] (Human Resource Management)

Generally, admission to an MBA program is through any one of the nationally conducted entrance exams like CAT, MAT etc.

For Admission to Human Resource Management degree, you will have to appear in any one or more of the nationally conducted entrance exams. On the basis of performance in entrance test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview, management Institutes prepare a shortlist of candidates for admission. Some weightage is also given to marks scored in Higher Secondary and Graduation level examination.

Direct Admission

There are many Private Management Institutes in India which also offer direct admission on the basis of rank/percentile/marks scored in any one of the nationally conducted management entrance exams like CAT, XAT, and MAT etc. Some Institutes also accept GMAT scores for direct admission. However, even such institutes can conduct Group Discussion or Personal Interview for selection of students.

Foreign Nationals or children of Persons of Indian Origin can apply to B-Schools in India using their GMATand GRE Score. Such students may also need to appear for a personal interview.

Selection Process

The normal selection process for MBA in HRM involves a written test, group discussion and personal interview. Some institutes may conduct an essay writing test and/or General Aptitude Test. Academic Performance and Work Experience of a candidate is also considered while preparing the final list of candidates for admission to the program.
